Erik Deutsch 'Hush Money' now out.
Erik's record was tracked at The Bunker live, with a full rhythm section and woodwinds, to our Studer A80. It's some beautiful instrumental music written by one of our favorite keyboardists. Here's what Erik has to say about the record...
'With layers of keyboards, guitars and woodwinds, Erik Deutsch's Hush Money is not your usual jazz album. The versatile keyboardist and composer is known recently for his work alongside guitarist Norah Jones, Charlie Hunter, Erin McKeown, Trevor Dunn, Ron Miles, and Blue Note artist Kristina Train.
The session was recorded to analog tape at The Bunker in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Deutsch and guitarist/producer Jonathan Goldberger mixed at his Greenpoint studio, working together to create the soundscape that makes Hush Money unique.'

Eyal Maoz's Edom out now on Tzadik!
Eyal's new record with his band Edom is out on Tzadik records. John recorded and mixed it in May 2009, and it was mastered by Scott Hull. The music is part free jazz, part 80's electro, part noise rock, and part traditional-Jewish music... it made for a really fun session with lots of gated reverb and insane synth and guitar sounds.

LOTS OF MIXING!
We've been super busy mixing lots of records this summer. We recently finished an EP for Mouchette and Black Taxi's debut full length (produced by Aaron), both mixed by Aaron and John. John tracked and mixed Edom's latest release for Tzadik Records and mixed Werewolves debut full length LP.
Aaron is gearing up to produce Mixtape's new record, and John will be producing new material for The Royal Chains and Matt Lowell this fall.
We're also offering mix packages with a flat rate of $200 a song, so if you've got songs you've been working on, and the mixes just won't go where you need them, give us a call.

Converter upgrade & Protools HD
We just put in a 32 channel Protools HD rig at the studio. Running a pair of Lynx Aurora 16 channel converters the new system sounds great. It enables us to run Protools HD 8 and Logic Studio 9 either as stand alone systems or alongside the Radar 24.

Construction---ouch
We're in the middle of putting in a new ceiling in the live room and iso-booths. This will also give us the chance for a slight redesign of the space and better storage. Right now we're in sheet-rock hell but hopefully all will be back to normal and better by the end of the week.

Natalie Walker Live @ The Bunker
Natalie Walker has released an EP recorded live at The Bunker. The music was originally recorded to go with a video footage of the band performing live in studio but when it sounded so good Dorado Records decided to release it separately. It was all performed live with no overdubs or vocal fixes and was a fun thing to do with a 3 person camera crew squeezed in as well...

Shortwave Sunshine
In the studio this weekend with Shortwave Sunshine. Basic tracking for 2 days for a new album...the session went super smooth tracking to Radar and then transferred to Logic for them to take home to finish up overdubs. They got 9 songs with basics done including a fun last one featuring clarinet, ukelele and quattro.

NAMM 2009
John and I went out with Jojo Mayer and Nerve to play Sabian night at NAMM this year. John has been playing bass with Jojo for years and I've just started doing live sound for the band. For both of us it was our 1st visit to the insanity that is NAMM. Some of our favorite picks from the show were the new Korg rackmount DSD recorder, & Microkorg XL in sexy new colors, with a new new design and engine. Also the Rupert Neve console was looking super nice and they have some new AD/DA comverters heading to market that should be pretty cool. Wade from Chandler was showing some new 500 series EQ and compressors that sounded great too. The guys at Subdecay pedals were super nice and we hung out with them watching Blues Saraceno check out their range. My faves of theirs are the new Echo Delay, Noise Box, Liquid Sunshine and some crazy filtery Octave Fuzz thing that deosn't seem to be out yet.
There was so much more that we didn't get a chance to see but we definitely checked out some cool new products and met some great people.
More photos over on our
Facebook page.
